111 Years art monograph

For this project I worked with artist Davide Cantoni to create the bilingual monograph for his show 111 years/111 anni. Davide creates images using graphite, paper and the sun. He draws images (mostly based on photos from the New York Times) and then uses the sun to burn the image out of the paper. The result is a fragile, haunting and impermanent feeling image. For 111 years Davide combined his technique with infographics. He catalogued all the wars from the past 111 years and for each year created a world map with the afflicted areas burned or scorched out. I designed and lay out the catalogue and even did a bit of proofreading.

    Bur Ragazzi classics series

For this series Italian publisher BUR (Rizzoli's soft cover imprint) asked us to repackage a selection of the classic children's novels in an fun, fresh way. We decided the design should appeal to both adults and children and that this was best achieved with clean design (for the grown ups) and a fun spot illustration (for the kids). Jeffrey Fisher (www.rileyillustration.com) and his whimsical style came to mind right away. Each book is printed on uncoated stock with two Pantones and the type is embossed. It is an award winning series and has been honored in Comm Arts, HOW, AIGA 50 books/50 covers and by the ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design.)
